The following appears to be taken primarily from the Kabala.  To my knowledge there are two Kaballas. One is an esoteric cosmological book of magic that had been orally transmitted following the Babylonian captivity of the Jews until the early Middle Ages when it was first committed to written forms.  The other Kabala is called the Book of Abraham, which has long been lost to greater posterity.  This is said to have been transmitted orally from the time of Adam, and was largely attributed to the prophet Seth.

I cannot take responsibility for the veracity of anything contained below.  I post it largely as a service and not because I deem it important.  Much is made of the Pentagram by the enemies of essential Monotheism, and to know your enemy is the second step in warfare.  I caution all who enter these lines to ask Allah for His protection and guidance before proceeding. “The Symbolism and Spiritual Significance of the Number Five”

In the beginning of man’s time on earth, he was a simple creature.
When he began to draw his ideas of creation, he drew with simple
lines.  The square represents the earth, and the triangle represents
the heavens. The three dots represents the triune God dwelling in
heaven. The five stars represent the full Godhead of five, namely
… the deity and his four great primary or creative forces. The deity
with His Great Forces dwells in Heaven.

Manifestations of the Deity are expressed in five phases:

1. Source or Seed–The Ain Soph Aur or Adam Kadmon

2. Root –World of Emanation of Atziluth

3. Tree –World of Creation or Briah

4. Branch –World of Formation or Yetzirah

5. Fruit –World of Action or Assiah

These five phases form a schema of the Tree of Life.

Note: This is analogous to a description of the fourth dimension. Imagine an acorn then envision an oak tree. All in an instantaneous thought you could see in your mind the three dimensions of the acorn’s change into an oak tree with the added dimension of time included. Thus you were looking at all sides of the object at once.

“The ten sephiroth of the Tree of Life are classified in five stages or phases, which are known as worlds. The ten sephiroth have been extended further, by veiling their light so that man could receive it. This process had been repeated four times until the light was sufficiently diffused for man to partake of the Infinite Light. This resulted in the Four Worlds of the Kabbalists. The first world emanated from the Infinite Light in the form of the Primordial Point was that of Adam Kadmon. The second world emanated from Adam Kadmon was the World of Emanation of Atziluth, also composed of the ten sephiroth, but with dimmer lights. Then came the ten sephiroth that made the World of Creation, or Briah, followed by the World of Formation, Yetzirah, and lastly, the World of Action, Assiah, which is also the world of man.”

“The Cabala is older than the revelation of Sinai. It goes back to prehistoric times. Moses only introduced it into the history of Israel. Moses received (Kibel: from this term ‘Cabala’ is derived) the Torah (‘teaching,’ ‘Law’) on Mount Sinai.”

Torah [Heb. towrah, to-raw’, or torah, from Heb. 3384, a precept or statute, espec. the Decalogue or Pentateuch, law, direction, instruction] the entire body of religious law and learning including both sacred literature and oral tradition. A scroll of parchment containing the first five books of the Hebrew Scriptures, used in a synagogue during services.

In the Occult Doctrines, this Divine Breath, Spirit, ensouls the dust of the Four Physical Elements (which modern science describes as the Four States of Matter – plasma, gas, liquid, and solid; which are bound together by the Four Forces of Nature – stong, weak, electromagnetic, and gravity). These states were identified by the early Alchemists as Fire, Water, Air, and Earth, abstract concepts which form the matrix upon which the layers of existence and reality are woven, like cloth on a loom. The symbology of the Breath of Life, Spirit, ensouled in the dust of the Four Elements was said to be exemplified by the human hand, with the thumb representing Spirit, and the other digits representing the Elements. Another cognate symbol is the ancient Pentagram, the five-pointed star, with each point signifying Spirit, Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. The Egyptians called this symbol Khabs, which translates as both Star and God. As it is written in Liber AL vel Legis, the threefold Book of Law: “Every man and every woman is a star.”

This symbol of the five-pointed Star and the corresponding number five have been consonant symbols for Man for as long as there has been written record, dating back to the earliest centuries with the Hindu Vedas. Isn’t it interesting how this symbol has somehow devolved into an icon of evil, attributed to Satanic works?

It might then appear that God’s bestowal of the gift of Divine Breath unto Man ultimately led to the plucking of the forbidden fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, an act which caused the Creator God Elohim (literally Gods – plural) to forget themselves in their displeasure and give away the Secret: “Behold, the man has become as one of us…” before indignantly ejecting Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden into our harsh world of toil and trouble. This parable is, of course, a not too subtle metaphor for humankind’s collective Initiation unto his Divine Inheritance through the ordeals of Experience – physical incarnation. The Fall of Man describes how we have, quite necessarily, forgotten our intrinsic link with Spirit.

In esoteric lore, the cosmic memory of Akasha is often referred to as the Akashic Records, which we all have access to right now, as we live and breathe; we need only to find a way to Remember to regain our Divine inheritance. In essence, all religious Traditions, including the Qabalah, are simply templates or maps designed to teach and lead us to the Remembrance of the long-forgotten Mystery Language of the Ancients, and thus reclaim our connection with Akasha, Spirit, and Silent Knowledge. In fact, the root of the term religion is the Latin word religio – to reconnect.

Pentateuch

The Pentateuch [Heb. torah, law or teaching] means five books, and it is referred to by the Jews as the Torah or the Law. It consists of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. The following is called the Graf-Wellhausen theory:

“Many scholars today, using textual data, believe that the Pentateuch actually came from five independent sources. They say that later editors, working at various periods, wove the sources into a unified work. They refer to these sources by the following symbols:

J and E, the two earliest documents, written about 1,000 B.C. to 900 B.C. J uses the divine name Jehovah, or Yahweh, for God and E uses the name Elohim to refer to God.

D, or Deuteronomy, a scroll found in Jerusalem in 621 B.C during the reform of Josiah.

H, or Holiness Code, a short collection of laws.

P, or Priestly Code, probably completed during the Babylonian Exile of the Jews in 500 B.C

ABRAHAM’S COVENANT

To go back to the Old Testament history we have God’s Covenant with Abraham stamped with this number of Divine perfection (Gen 15). It was (like David’s, 2 Samuel 7) Divinely “ordered in all things, and sure.” God was ONE, i.e., the one party to it; for Abraham, who would willingly have been the other party, was put to sleep, that the Covenant might be unconditional, and “sure to all his seed.” The Divine seal is seen in the choice of three animals, each of three years old (the heifer, the she-goat, and the ram). These, together with the two birds (the dove and the pigeon), made five in all, marking it all as a perfect act of free-grace on the part of a sovereign God.

Features of Sri Hanuman

According to Saint Tulsidas, Sri Hanuman is bestowed with golden colour, beautiful curly hair, wears a sacred thread made of sacred grass, and shining earrings. He is very learned, adept in all scriptures including astrology and the Vedas, extremely intelligent, virtuous, and a great lover of music. Since He has a body as strong as the thunderbolt, He is also called Bajrangbali. Bajrang means thunderbolt.

According to Hanumath Prakaranam in Sri Vidyarnavatantram, Anjaneya has five faces (Pancha Mukha) and ten weapons. The five faces are that of Lord Hanuman, Lord Narasimha, Lord Adivaraha, Lord Hayagriva, and Lord Garuda. There is a belief that one of the faces is that of Sri Vinayaka. The idol of Adyanta Maha Prabhu depicts a figure of half Anjaneya and half Vinayaka.

He is a great yogi (mystic) having transcended the five senses (Pancha Indriyas).

In Kamba Ramayanam (in Tamil), the significance of number five is beautifully narrated as follows: The son of one of the five (son of wind – that is Pavana Thanaya), crossed one of the five (water – the ocean), through one of the five (sky), met daughter of one of the five (daughter of the earth – Sita Devi), burnt down Lanka by one of the five (fire). Here five means the five elements.

Sundara Kandam, which highlights the heroic exploits of Lord Hanuman at Lanka is the fifth canto in the Ramayana. Therefore, it is considered auspicious to go around His idol 5 times, 14 times, 23 times, 32 times or with such numbers the digits of which add to five.

Each row equals 65 in every direction and represents the planet Mars. It follows the traditional Babylonian arrangement of the heavenly spheres. The closer one comes to the earth the larger the square becomes. These magic squares represent archetypal patterns of energy and are mathematical reflections of the underlying natural order.  Magic squares brilliantly reveal the intrinsic harmony and symmetry of numbers with their curious and mystic charm they appear to betray some hidden intelligence that governs the cosmic order that dominates all existence. The numbers of planetary squares have been used in formulating the names of planetary spirits and intelligences, in constructing planetary talismans, in determining the emasurements of temples, and so on. To those initiated into the mysteries of the old cosmologies, the divinities or archtypes of nature were recognized as autonomous patterns of energy which leave their imprint on many levels of human experience.

This is the Chaldean arrangement of the planets, set out upon
the “Tree of Life” from the Jewish kabbalistic tradition from
which the traditional number of the planet is derivied. The sun,
which orchestrates the celestial dance, occupies the heart of
the cosmic tree. Some other tradiional attriibutes of the
planetary symbols are provided in the chart of correspondences
for reference.In the pessimist school of gnosis, humanity is unconscious,
ruled by astrological Fate, and is trapped in a material world
which was created in ignorance and error. Only the saving
knowledge imparted by the Gnostic Revealer will awaken
slumbering humanity to its true nature and celestial origin.In contrast, in the optimist school of Gnosis, the kosmos is a
beautiful theophany, a manifestation of the divine. Optimist
gnosis realizes that “the world is full of gods” and that humanity
rather than being imprisoned in lifeless earth, treads, in fact,
upon the bottom of the sky.

THE FIVE BOOKS OF LAW

The high-priest Hilkiah is said to have found the Book of the Law, the Hindu Puranas (Scriptures) which were known to the Assyrians. These had for many centuries held dominion from the Hellespont to the Indus, and probably crowded the Aryans out of Bactriana into the Punjab. The Book of the Law seems to have been a purana. “The learned Brahmans,” says Sir William Jones, “pretend that five conditions are requisite to constitute a real purana:

“1. To treat of the creation of matter in general.

“2. To treat of the creation or production of secondary material and spiritual beings.

“3. To give a chronological abridgment of the great periods of time.

“4. To give a genealogical abridgment of the principal families that reigned over the country.

“5. Lastly, to give the history of some great man in particular.”

It is pretty certain that whoever wrote the Pentateuch had this plan before him, as well as those who wrote the New Testament had become thoroughly well acquainted with Buddhistic ritualistic worship, legends and doctrines, through the Buddhist missionaries who were many in those days in Palestine and Greece.

Kali Yantra. The encompassing circle is avidya (ignorance);the eight petalled lotus is the eight-fold Prkriti consisting of earth, wter, fire, air, ether, manas (mind), buddhi (intellect) and ahamkara (egoism); the five triangles are the five jnanendriyas (jnana, knowledge; indriyas, senses), the five karmendriyas (motor organs) and the five pranas (breathing activities); and the bindu which is pure consciousness reflected in maya in the bija.

A yantra, which means ‘aid’ or ‘tool’, is generally drawn on paper or engraved on metal, either to aid meditation or as a tangible image of the deity. Just as a mantra is a sound equivalent, the yantra is a diagrammatic equivalent of the deity and consists of linear and spatial geometrical permutations of the deity. The primal abstract shapes, such as the point, line, circle, triangle, square, are harmonized in composition to provide a formal equilibrium which is both static and dynamic. A common feature of the yantra is that it possesses an element of centrality around which the whole figure is built up. The centre as point of origin and balance evolkes the idea of emanation and radiation. Enveloped in vertical and horizontal extensions it conveys a sense of formal mathematical order and regularity. Thus, yantra represents an energy pattern whose force increases in proportion to the abstraction and precision of the diagram.

Kriya Dhyana Yoga consists of a series of meditation techniques to master the unruly mind. It includes the five senses and their subtle counterparts, such as clairvoyance, clairaudience, and clairsentience. It cleanses the subconscious mind. Kriya Mantra Yoga. The mantras have been discovered by the Siddhas during profound states of meditation.

If we now examine the ten mythical avatars of Vishnu, we find them recorded in the following progression:

1. Matsya-Avatar: as a fish. It will also be his tenth and last avatar, at the end of the Kali-yug.

2. Kurm-Avatar: as a tortoise.

3. Varaha: as a boar.

4. Nara-Sing: as a man-lion; last animal stage.

5. Vamuna: as a dwarf; first step toward the human form.

6. Parasu-Rama: as a hero, but yet an imperfect man.

7. Rama-Chandra: as the hero of Ramayana. Physically a perfect man; his next of kin, friend and ally Hanouma, the monkey-god. The monkey endowed with speech.**

8. Christna-Avatar: the Son of the Virgin Devanaguy (or Devaki) one formed by God, or rather by the manifested Deity Vishnu, who is identical with Adam Kadmon.*** Christna is also called Kaneya, the Son of the Virgin.

9. Gautama-Buddha, Siddhartha, or Sakya-muni. (The Buddhists reject this doctrine of their Buddha being an incarnation of Vishnu.)

10. This avatar has not yet occurred. It is expected in the future, like the Christian Advent, the idea of which was undoubtedly copied from the Hindu. When Vishnu appears for the last time he will come as a “Saviour.” According to the opinion of some Brahmans he will appear himself under the form of the horse Kalki. Others maintain that he will be mounting it. This horse is the envelope of the spirit of evil, and Vishnu will mount it, invisible to all, till he has conquered it for the last time. The “Kalki-Avataram,” or the last incarnation, divides Brahmanism into two sects. That of the Vaihnava refuses to recognize the incarnations of their god Vishnu in animal forms literally. They claim that these must be understood as allegorical.

In this diagram of avatars we see traced the gradual evolution and transformation of all species out of the ante-Silurian mud of Darwin and the ilus of Sanchoniathon and Berosus. Beginning with the Azoic time, corresponding to the ilus in which Brahma implants the creative germ, we pass through the Palaeozoic and Mesozoic times, covered by the first and second incarnations as the fish and tortoise; and the Cenozoic, which is embraced by the incarnations in the animal and semi-human forms of the boar and man-lion; and we come to the fifth and crowning geological period, designated as the “era of mind, or age of man,” whose symbol in the Hindu mythology is the dwarf — the first attempt of nature at the creation of man. In this diagram we should follow the main idea, not judge the degree of knowledge of the ancient philosophers by the literal acceptance of the popular form in which it is presented to us in the grand epical poem of Maha-Bharata and its chapter the Bagaved-gitta.

Even the four ages of the Hindu chronology contain a far more philosophical idea than appears on the surface. It defines them according to both the psychological or mental and the physical states of man during their period. Crita-yug, the golden age, the “age of joy,” or spiritual innocence of man; Treta-yug, the age of silver, or that of fire — the period of supremacy of man and of giants and of the sons of God; Dwapara-yug, the age of bronze — a mixture already of purity and impurity (spirit and matter) the age of doubt; and at last our own, the Kali-yug, or age of iron, of darkness, misery, and sorrow. In this age, Vishnu had to incarnate himself in Christna, in order to save humanity from the goddess Kali, consort of Siva, the all-annihilating — the goddess of death, destruction, and human misery. Kali is the best emblem to represent the “fall of man”; the falling of spirit into the degradation of matter, with all its terrific results. We have to rid ourselves of Kali before we can ever reach “Moksha,” or Nirvana, the abode of blessed Peace and Spirit.

With the Buddhists the last incarnation is the fifth. When Maitree-Buddha comes, then our present world will be destroyed; and a new and a better one will replace it. The four arms of every Hindu Deity are the emblems of the four preceding manifestations of our earth from its invisible state, while its head typifies the fifth and last Kalki-Avatar, when this would be destroyed, and the power of Budh — Wisdom (with the Hindus, of Brahma), will be again called into requisition to manifest itself — as a Logos — to create the future world.

The male gods typify Spirit in its deific attributes while their female counterparts — the Sakti, represent the active energies of these attributes. The Durga (active virtue), is a subtile, invisible force, which answers to Shekinah — the garment of En-Soph. She is the Sakti through which the passive “Eternal” calls forth the visible universe from its first ideal conception. Every one of the three personages of the exoteric Trimurti are shown as using their Sakti as a Vehan (vehicle). Each of them is for the time being the form which sits upon the mysterious wagon of Ezekiel.

Nor do we see less clearly carried out in this succession of avatars, the truly philosophical idea of a simultaneous spiritual and physical evolution of creatures and man. From a fish the progress of this dual transformation carries on the physical form through the shape of a tortoise, a boar, and a man-lion; and then, appearing in the dwarf of humanity, it shows Parasu Rama physically, a perfect, spiritually, an undeveloped entity, until it carries mankind personified by one god-like man, to the apex of physical and spiritual perfection — a god on earth. In Christna and the other Saviours of the world we see the philosophical idea of the progressive dual development understood and as clearly expressed in the Sohar. The “Heavenly man,” who is the Protogonos, Tikkun, the first-born of God, or the universal Form and Idea, engenders Adam. Hence the latter is god-born in humanity, and endowed with the attributes of all the ten Sephiroth. These are: Wisdom, Intelligence, Justice, Love, Beauty, Splendor, Firmness, etc. They make him the Foundation or basis, “the mighty living one,” and the crown of creation, thus placing him as the Alpha and Omega to reign over the “kingdom” — Malchuth. “Man is both the import and the highest degree of creation,” says the Sohar. “As soon as man was created, everything was complete, including the upper and nether worlds, for everything is comprised in man. He unites in himself all forms”

It is well known, that the earliest Christian emblems — before it was ever attempted to represent the bodily appearance of Jesus — were the Lamb, the Good Shepherd, and the Fish. The origin of the latter emblem, which has so puzzled the archaeologists, thus becomes comprehensible. The whole secret lies in the easily-ascertained fact that, while in the Kabala, the King Messiah is called “Interpreter,” or Revealer of the mystery, and shown to be the fifth emanation, in the Talmud — for reasons we will now explain — the Messiah is very often designated as “DAG,” or the Fish. This is an inheritance from the Chaldees, and relates — as the very name indicates — to the Babylonian Dagon, the man-fish, who was the instructor and interpreter of the people, to whom he appeared. Abarbanel explains the name, by stating that the sign of his (Messiah’s) coming “is the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter in the sign Pisces.”* Therefore, as the Christians were intent upon identifying their Christos with the Messiah of the Old Testament, they adopted it so readily as to forget that its true origin might be traced still farther back than the Babylonian Dagon. How eagerly and closely the ideal of Jesus was united, by the early Christians, with every imaginable kabalistic and Pagan tenet, may be inferred from the language of Clemens, of Alexandria, addressed to his brother co-religionists.

When they were debating upon the choice of the most appropriate symbol to remind them of Jesus, Clemens advised them in the following words: “Let the engraving upon the gem of your ring be either a dove, or a ship running before the wind (the Argha), or a fish.” Was the good father, when writing this sentence, laboring under the recollection of Joshua, son of Nun (called Jesus in the Greek and Slavonian versions); or had he forgotten the real interpretation of these Pagan symbols?

* King (“Gnostics”) gives the figure of a Christian symbol, very common during the middle ages, of three fishes interlaced into a triangle, and having the FIVE letters (a most sacred Pythagorean number) [[I. CH. THUS.]] engraved on it. The number five relates to the same kabalistic computation.

Joshua, son of Nun, or Nave (Navis), could have with perfect propriety adopted the image of a ship, or even of a fish, for Joshua means Jesus, son of the fish-god; but it was really too hazardous to connect the emblems of Venus, Astarte, and all the Hindu goddesses — the argha, dove, and fish — with the “immaculate” birth of their god! This looks very much as if in the early days of Christianity but little difference was made between Christ, Bacchus, Apollo, and the Hindu Christna, the incarnation of Vishnu, with whose first avatar this symbol of the fish originated.

In the Hari-purana, in the Bagaved-gitta, as well as in several other books, the god Vishnu is shown as having assumed the form of a fish with a human head, in order to reclaim the Vedas lost during the deluge. Having enabled Visvamitra to escape with all his tribe in the ark, Vishnu, pitying weak and ignorant humanity, remained with them for some time. It was this god who taught them to build houses, cultivate the land, and to thank the unknown Deity whom he represented, by building temples and instituting a regular worship; and, as he remained half-fish, half-man, all the time, at every sunset he used to return to the ocean, wherein he passed the night.

“It is he,” says the sacred book, “who taught men, after the diluvium, all that was necessary for their happiness.

“One day he plunged into the water and returned no more, for the earth had covered itself again with vegetation, fruit, and cattle.

“But he had taught the Brahmas the secret of all things” (Hari-purana).

Genesis chapter 1 (Day Five) Virgo 13,170 B.C. * Virgin

1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

Here the signs of animal life appeared in the waters and in the air. Moving creatures were all animals with fins and feather, with rapid increase. Fowl means every flying thing; the word rendered “whales,” includes also sharks and crocodiles; small fish to great sea monsters; insects to the king of birds.

The Scorpion or serpent is in the scripture in constant battle with Christ:

1) Caused Adam and Eve to Fall.

2) After the Flood Noah descendants faltered at the Tower of Babel.

3) Nimrod tried to destroy Abram and his posterity.

4) Pharaoh tried to destroy all the “Children” of the Hebrew in order that the line leading to the Messiah might be cut off.

Athaliah destroyed all the royal seed of Israel, but the king’s son was rescued.

In the book of Ester, Haman tried to destroy all of the Jews, and yet he was put to rout by Ester and they were saved.

Haman was an OT Persian minister hanged for plotting the destruction of Jews.

5) At Bethlehem, Herod killed all of the babies under two years of age in an attempt to destroy the Christ child.

(Jesus climaxed in Gethsemane, the “hour of the powers of darkness,” upon the cross of Calvary he felt the sting of the scorpion to his grave, but rose again from the grave and conquered the scorpion.)

In the book, Temple of the stars page 52-53 by Brinsley Le Poer Trench , The sign Maker (Capricorn) is of a double nature: the pentagon or the five pointed star, has its point turned upward or downward (an image of a star). The word Makara, connected with the number 5, is related to the Four Kumaras, who are 5, one being secret; to the 5 crocodiles in the celestial Nile to the 5th hierarchy, and also to the 5th class of demons whom Satan (Saturn as Pan), leader of the opposition in Hell, is the head.

The word Makara contains also Kama and Mara, and Saturn is related to those two Gods.

Mara is the god of darkness, the Fallen One, and Death (as the Destroyer, Saturn is the God of Death) — … and it is one of the names of Kama the First God in the Vedas, the Logos, from whom have sprung the Kumaras (the Logos being Brahma-Rudra) and this connects them still more with our fabulous Indian Makara and the crocodile-headed God in Egypt. (Sebeck or Seveck who is Saturn). The word Makara is often translated by “crocodile.”

Dimension 5 – Transcendence (microcosm)

The ability to unite the elements is found in the fifth dimension of energy — the quintessence. The cycle of matter is transcended when the fifth awareness emerges from it. Consciousness transcends the opposing four forces, and the higher-life begins. The ancients saw a link of God to man in the number five. Geometrically it is a pentagon. In three dimensions it is a pyramid, like the Great Pyramids in Egypt.

A pentagram, or five pointed star, is commonly used in magic and ritual. It symbolizes the ability of the will to control the elements. In that sense it represents the power of the lower-self — the human will.

The pentagram contains the Golden Ratio — the number known as Phi, approximately 1.618. The Greeks saw this ratio as the perfect proportion. (It could be described as a ratio of two parts such that the ratio of the larger part to the smaller, is the same as the large part to the whole.) The number Phi appears frequently in nature. It is created by self-replicating growth patterns — Fibonacci series. Fibonacci growth occurs as each successive addition in the series is added to existing growth. The result is a growing, branching, tree that converges on an overall growth rate. That growth ratio is the number Phi, and it is reflected in the sides of a pentagram.

Initiates of the fifth dimension of awareness are swept into the blazing reality of divine light. After the initial shock wears off, the seeker realizes that a new life has actually begun. This is the realization of the light body. It is cosmic consciousness. The fifth dimension holds the sum of all physical awareness — it is the memory of being everything. The seeker may feel that there is no deeper truth. All meaning will seem to be within the grasp of this awareness. In this dimension, all come face to face with the God of all feeling.

Yet, with the divine power of transcendence, the soul’s journey is hardly completed — God as power must be superceded by God as love. Knowledge and vision are power, but so is love. Releasing the light of awareness moves the seeker into the next realm. The light teachers will generally guide the seeker no further. Only a focused desire for truth will propel the soul beyond this swirling circle of brilliant energy. A seeker looking to identify with the mental conception of God will progress no further than this powerful light.

The Pentagram

The Constellation of Cepheus

Cepheus, The King [Latin Cepheus, from Greek Kepheus], appears on the Meridian on October 15. Cepheus has been known for thousands of years. Its shape is a large pentagram, rather like a child’s drawing of a house with a steep roof. The constellation is westward of Cassiopeia W or M shape. The five main stars of the pentagram are in the southwestern part of the constellation’s official boundaries. It is rich in clusters and nebulae since the Milky Way passes through Cepheus.

Others call Cepheus, The Crowned King, depicting a picture of a bearded man who wears a crown, seated upon a throne. In his uplifted hand he holds a sceptre and with his right hand he holds a portion of his robe. His right foot is placed firmly upon the Pole-star, the central point in all of the galaxies and all of the heavens. A picture of Christ enthroned, no longer the slain Lamb but the Great Redeemer.

Cepheus means “The (Royal) Branch or the King.”

It is noted that of Virgo, The Virgin, has in one hand the Seed and in the other a Branch. The Branch is a name given to Christ who is the righteous Branch who was to come, as the offspring of David. Thus here the Branch has been enthroned as the King.

King [Heb. melek, meh’-lek, or melekh, from Heb. malak, maw-lak’, to reign, thus a king, royal, possessor, Gr. basileus, obscure origin]. Psalm 2 contrasts the messianic king (2:6) with the kings of the earth (2:2, 10). Psalm 24:8 acclaims the Lord as King of glory. The messianic king enters Jerusalem riding on a colt (Zech. 9:9). Nebuchadnezzar praises the king of heaven (Dan. 4:37).

To the ancient Egyptians this constellation is known as “Per-Ku-Hor”, meaning “This One Cometh to Rule.”

Star Names of Cepheus

a Alderamin is an Arabic word meaning either “forearm” or “ shoulder.” It is the westernmost star at the base of the house and the brightest star of the constellation. In another spelling Al Deramin is the brightest star in Arabic means “Coming Quickly.” b Alfirk which is an Arabic term that means “flock of sheep.” It is a double star. Also called Al Phirk the second brightest star at his midriff also means in Arabic “The Redeemer.” In OT doctrine [Heb. ga’al to “redeem”]. To appreciate the NT theme of redemption, the position of human beings as slaves of sin must be assumed (John 8:33-34). Thus they must be set free in order to become liberated servants of the Lord. Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Cepheus

g Errai which is Arabic for “shepherd.” This star is the vertex of the “roof” of the house or pentagram and it lies only about 13 degrees from the North Star. Also called Alrai which is at his left knee means “He Who Bruises or Breaks.”

d Cephei (no name) is the prototype of the important class of variable stars called Cepheids. These are supergiant stars, which are important as celestial yardsticks. This star marks the bottom left side of the “house.”

e Cephei (no name) marks one vertex of a small triangle at the bottom left side of the house.

z Cephei (no name) marks the bottom eastern corner of the “house.”

h Cephei (no name) is just west of Alderamin.

J Cephei (no name) is just northwest of Eta Cephei.

i Cephei (no name) marks the easternmost vertex of the pentagram of Cepheus.

m Garnet Star which is called this because of its deep red color. It is one of the most intensely colored stars known, it is a variable M2.

x Cephei (no name) lies in the middle of the pentagram and is a double star.

In Rev. 17, the kings of the earth fornicate with the harlot who is seated upon many waters, which are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues. Note the “waters” again, as related to the flood/Noah type symbolism. The kings become drunk on the wine of the harlot, which evokes the emotion of fury. They collectively give over their “royal power” to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose (Rev. 17:17).

This giving over of the kings’ royal power is the “bounty” in your dream, I think. The “beast” is karma of judgment, the eighth that belongs to the seven (chakras). See Rev. 17:11.

The harlot is related to “ten horns,” which I believe is related to the third chakra, which is symbolized by a ten-petal lotus flower with a five-pointed star inside. The harlot is related to Kali, the goddess of death destruction creation in east Indian religions.

The cycle of time in the lower three chakra levels is often shown as being in or under the water, or under the ground. This, I believe, is related to the unconscious mind. In other words, this refers to things below the “surface level” of consciousness. In your dream, then, the treasure of being king and having royal power, is pushed down into the unconscious.

Members of secret societies, such as Masonic Lodges of the Grand Orient, in their highest levels use the words “unknown superiors” to describe the force that guides them and their efforts. When the Illuminati was formed on Walpurgisnacht (eve of May 1st), 1776, five men gathered in a cavern deep beneath Ingolstadt in Bavaria and made contact with what they said were “unknown superiors.” One of these five men was Dr. Adam Weishaupt. The name Adam Weishaupt is profound in the sense that his name means “first man to know the superiors.” Here let it be noted that the five founders of the Illuminati used witchcraft rituals known as “The greater and lesser keys of Solomon”, which involved the “Pentacle of Invocation.” The pentacle is a three-dimensional, five-pointed star, and the number five became sacred to the Illuminati. We must also note that the Rothschild family consisted of five sons of one Moses Amschel Bauer, who took the name Rothschild, because it means “Red Shield.” Much later, a man named John D. Rockefeller also had five sons to control the American branch of Illuminism. The Illuminati and all of witchcraft is obsessed with the Pentacle of Invocation, and is it any wonder that the Washington Monument in Washington D.C. is exactly 555 feet high? Is it any wonder that we have a five-sided death house, known as the Pentagon? When I think of the five Rockefellers and the five Rothschilds, I am reminded that in Luke, chapter 16, we are told of a man in fiery torment, who in verses 27-28 said, “…I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.”

The number five remains paramount in importance to the Masterminds of the Great Conspiracy functioning in our day. A very ancient and evil book known as the Necronomicon sets forth the “Law of Fives”, which has found its way into our modern day computer systems. Millions of computers are running on Intel’s “Pentium Processor.” In addition to that, the Microsoft Corporation with its founder, Bill Gates, is providing the technology through occultism to force the age-old objective of a one-world Luciferian government on all the world. The full name of Bill Gates is Williams Henry Gates III. It is interesting that when you take the name he goes by, Bill Gates, and add the III to it, his name adds up to 666 in computer ASCII-values. According to a report entitled Microsoft And The Bavarian Illuminati, there is a secret building on the Microsoft campus in Redmond, Washington, which unlike the other 22 buildings, is hidden from view. Building 7, which is accessed by secret passage, is shaped like a pentagon or Pentacle of Invocation. Is Satan working through the computer systems of the world? Doubtlessly, he is! Microsoft has a book entitled, Object Linking And Imbedding 2.0 Programmer’s Reference. (1) On page 78, paragraph 2 begins as follows: “In the aggregation model, this internal communication is achieved through coordination with a special instance of IUnknown interface known as the controlling unknown of the aggregate.”

When you consider a system that works with fives and a “controlling unknown” that is now controlling humanity, we must also consider the “unknown superiors” of Illuminism. As discerning Christians, we know and understand who the controlling unknown is, and we also know that he has no control over us, as we are the purchased possession of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Thus, we will fight this spiritual battle and expose the enemy every step of the way in an attempt to wake up a sleeping remnant, drugged by religious denominations.

NUMEROLOGY – FIVE

Five is the symbol of human microcosm. The number of the human being. Human forms—the pentagon when arms and legs are out stretched. The pentagon is endless —sharing the symbolism of perfection and power of the circle.

Five is a circular number as it produces itself in its last digit when raised to its own power.

The pentacle, like the circle symbolizes whole, the quincunx being the number of its center and the meeting point of heaven, earth, and the four cardinal points plus the center point.

Five is also representative of the Godhead—Central Creator of the four fours plus itself equalling five.

Five is the marriage of the hieros gamos as combination of feminine and the masculine. Feminine being even, as 2, in frequency and masculine being odd as 3 in frequency = 5.

The number five symbolizes meditation; religion; versatility. It represents the five senses (taste, touch, smell, sight, hearing) everywhere except in the East. In the East there are six—the extra being Mind. We find meanings to five in the five petaled flower, five pointed leaves–especially the ROSE. The Rose has much symbolism, but also the lily, vine, all of which represent the microcosm.

The five pointed star depicts individuality and spiritual aspiration, and education when it points upward. The five pointed star pointing downward represents witchcraft, and it is used in black magic.

Noted: There is a very broad difference between witchcraft and black magic.

The number five formed the first counting process from which all else came.

The number five consists of two unequal parts, 2 and 3. The diversity brings evil and misfortune. The five symbolizes the individual (one who defies the natural order and is punished), the five fingers on the hand, the pentagram.

Pentagram (derived from the pentagon) was in ancient times a symbol for health and salvation, and in the Middle Ages used as a symbol to repulse evil spirits. As a geometric form it has a multitude of different meanings. Its special relationship to the golden section represented the possibility of infinite divisions in both directions, making it more mystical.

DREAMS WITH THE NUMBER FIVE

10-15-90 – EXPERIENCE – Five times during the night, I was told I was going to be initiated into special mastership. The doorbell rang also. I didn’t let them in for fear that they might not be who they said they were.

10-6-97 – DREAM – I was somewhere and went behind my 1st husband. I removed his work chits from his left rear pants pocket and moved them to his right rear pant’s pocket. They were round. There were three of them. Each one had a number – 2398, 2598, and 2798. They were copper colored. (The word chit is Sanskrit for “consciousness).

#2 – DREAM – I was in another place where I was managing an apartment building. I was in the process of renting an apartment and started to see water coming out of the wall behind the people. We left the room and went to my own apartment. I had five keys and chose one specific long rounded one to open the door. Inside my apartment stood a black woman and her Jewish attorney. I demanded to know how they got in there and they just asked me questions instead of answering me. They wanted to know what was in the black bag another man had left with me. I opened the bag and found $2400 paperclipped together.

My old painter Bob came and said he was retiring. I saw a newspaper with lists of people’s names and was told that old men spend the rest of their lives comforting other old people and that is what he planned to do.

10-31-97 – DREAM – These were gnostic dreams like puzzles. EAch one was a puzzle in itself, but then I had to layer five of them one atop another to get the bigger picture.

3-9-98 – DREAM – I was with my husband on Wisconsin Ave. and we were ready to leave for California. My oldest son Michael wasn’t ready yet so I told my husband that if Michael didn’t go, I would have to stay behind with him. I then set about packing my car in a garage for the duration. The problem was I had five doves that went ahead of my car with me and if they got excited they would get up on their tippy-toes and stretch out their necks going MEEP MEEP! So, we had to carefully corral them in the garage with my car with not only regular doors but with wire cage doors as well. I finally drove out of the garage in a safer car then and I drove to my school on an open mini steam roller. My husband said he was happy I had changed vehicles because I wouldn’t blow away in the wind on the new vehicle.

12-5-98 – DREAM – I was working in an office. I looked at the clock. It was 11 am. on 12/24/98. Everyone had gone home without saying goodbye. I decided I may as well go home too. I went to the room where all the coats were kept. I saw six 1999 calendars laying there. Five of them were rolled, twisted, and crumpled. I decided to take five of them so I’d have one in every room of my house, but left the undamaged one there.

I did this mediation and dreaming special for the West Coast. However, other symbols came in which might not be strictly for that area.

1-26-99 – DREAMS/VISIONS This is strictly for the West Coast. Others needn’t worry, but should send light to the situation if you can. I would ask that everyone pass this along to anyone you know on the West Coast. Last night, I had 6 identical dreams In the dream, I was staring at a control panel of indicators, buttons, and charts about disasters, especially earthquakes. When the earthquake hit, even the indicator that said ‘earthquake’ shook violently.

The fact that I had the dream 6 times is VERY important. That means it’s highly likely to happen.

After I woke up this morning, I had a series of at least a dozen visions. Each one was about the types of quake disaster that is going to occur.

In one, a tectonic plate dropped slightly. In the next, the plate dropped and quivered, and what looked like solid rock, turned to gravel and rolled around. In another one, the tectonic plates turned on edge like this: /////. In another one, I saw cars on top of roadways, raise up in the air 50 feet or more. In another, everything got all jumbled up like jackstraws.

I was told that there will not only be a lot of damage, but many deaths. When the earthquakes hit, there will also be tidal waves which will kill many more people along the coastline.

For some reason, there is also going to be heavy cross winds which will cause damage to anything airborne at the time.

Let me tell you this also. Many people have been getting warnings from spirit to leave, and you haven’t listened. Those of you who have gotten the warnings know who you are. NOW is the time to heed the  warnings while there is still time.

Not all types of quakes will hit the same place. These quakes will happen all along the west coast. A BIG shift is coming. Watch the little quakes now. That’s where the indicators will show where the big ones are going to hit. We already know that Los Angeles will be one place. Little quakes are good. The are pressure relievers. It would be worse if there were none.

Also be aware that 7 volcanoes are going to go off all at once also. They will be devastating as well. These volcanoes are all linked underneath the surface of the earth. These also will be along the West Coast.

I already know that many people will hide their heads and not heed the warnings. I was shown that too, but those of you who have the awareness will know that this is the time to go. You have 6 weeks  to make the move. Make it less if you can.

Here are the visions:

#1 – I saw a man in a beige trench coat take a big step to the left over a sinking sidewalk plate.

#2 – I saw the same man in a beige coat take a step forward and to the right over the same sinking sidewalk plate, which was now deeper and the concrete had turned to shifting sand and gravel.

#3 – VOICE – RICHARD…THE CLONE

#4 – VOICE – There is a developing situation which CNN and a large magazine media will break. I saw numerous pictures on two side by side pages. There were 7 of them. Each page I turned over was developing the pictures as I went. I flipped them all back to look at them again, and they continued to develop. (Perhaps there are two situations developing)

#5 – VOICE – ZUCKO – (ZUKO) I saw a huge land mass rise over 50 feet with a car balanced on top of it.

#6 – VISION – I saw a full drawer of kitchen utensils slamming shut and all the utensils were jammed every which way out of alignment at the front of the drawer.

#7 – VISION – I saw the same drawer pulled as far out as it could go with all the same kitchen utensils still jammed way to the front. The back of the drawer was empty.  Then I saw a hand move a single large mixer beater to the left corner of the back of the drawer and a large mat on the right back corner which laid down on the empty space and draped over the top of the utensils.  A voice said, “If everyone is dead, what good is it?”

#7 – VOICE – “This is it”… sue market (Sue Marquette) (SUE MAR KET) ( I don’t know what this means, but a man called up on the phone the same evening and threatened to sue us for publishing a derogatory paper about him on the web)  (We removed it)

#8 – VOICE – “The gentlemen in the Senate is hiding something. It’ll be the gentlemen from San Francisco. The information is about to be released. What is the strategy?”

#9 – VOICE – When the wind current meet each other, the antique flyers in multiples. ”

#10 – I could hear rock and roll music playing. A voice said, “Take the music away from the yard.” I saw a stick raise up a whole pile of plates in a sink. All were tilted ////.

#11 – VOICE – “It’s time to leave.” I saw a man scrambling to get out of bed and out of his house. The voice said, “It’s the water level.”

#12 – I saw three men bend over way down, hiding their heads. Then I saw three other men with dark hair and dark moustaches. A voice said, “If you don’t want to!  then “If you don’t have to!” I assumed the sentences belonged to each type of men.

#13 – I saw like a pit forming in sand. It was circular. A voice said, “Can Arizona offer any darkening?”  This was a 5 pointed star but with rounded ends.

#16 – VISION – I saw a black hand held radio communicator with the antenna broken off.  (I assumed that was the end of the communications and got up to write everything down.)

8-26-99 – EPIC TRAVELING DREAM – I and other people were gathering from many places. We were complaining loudly about how far we had to go to where we were. We looked at a map and I pointed out that there was no shortcut. Everyone of us had to come through Kiel, WI and on the map it was a big circle and I saw a white Pegasus on the circle and I pointed out on the map that we all had to go around it to get to where we were.

We all got on a bus then and continued East through the city. We were a strange looking crew. One of the teen kids needed to sleep and he sat on the floor with his head on my knee. He had weird stuff in his hair like hay and oatmeal flakes or something.

We had to cross a great river then on a bridge that was oddly cross shaped but the river was so high there was water on the bridge and the water came up halfway in the bus. It was so deep the bus was floating.

I saw a red and blue balloon floating on the water, then saw that some pranksters had stretched two balloons tightly across the bridge which we had to duck under or be decapitated. Our bus driver went out into the water at this point and disappeared.

The bus turned into a car as we continued and the water wasn’t quite so deep so we were now walking the car and gradually the car faded and we were now dancing our way towards the end of the bridge.

We went up some steps about 7 and tap danced rhythmically up the steps and were now again on dry land.

We were still a weird bunch of people. I helped make a blue dress for a girl, cutting off a large portion of the hem to shorten it.

All this while every time we changed patterns of the people in rows of 2 or 3 but one behind another, so we were always in a 2 or 3 group but together equalling 5. I was trying to figure out if it meant something.

We continued dancing on up the path and I’ve lost the end… I don’t know where we went.

12-8-99 – NOTE: I thought I knew what dreams were until I had this one. In this dream, I woke up and started writing in my dream journal five different times, thinking I was awake, only to discover from some clue that I was still dreaming. People came to visit me at this house where I live now, and I thought I was awake and started telling them about how many levels of dreams I had been in and how freaked out I was, and here I was still dreaming. Hah! How do I know I’m really awake now?????

I met people who said they loved me… one guy came to the door I hadn’t seen in a long time… he had no facial hair… one eye (his right) was always squinty… he had no nose except like a drawing of one… and his lips were like kissing a squishy plastic doll… and I know I’ve seen him numerous times before… and he said he loved me and would return after he took his mother somewhere. I also knew her from other dreams.

Then I went back to writing in my dream journal, thinking I was awake and discovered that I wasn’t because I went up a stairway that doesn’t exist here and when I turned around to go back down, the stairs had already changed to a different direction. I freaked out, realizing I was still sleeping and went to go up the stairs and realized that going up the stairs would take me further into the dream and then I’d really be lost, so I stood on the landing of this stairway, wanting to go down the steps I had come up on which were now behind a fake wall, which I knew was fake, and refusing to go down the created stairs which were available, or go up the stairs even though there was a window there but water had seeped in on the stairway carpet and it was wet. Even where I stood ice crystals were forming on the carpet and it was slippery, but I refused to go either direction. Finally, the fake wall disappeared and I scurried back down the stairs, and then thought I was awake because the doorbell rang and someone else came to the door whom I know in the physical.

Surprise, surprise. Nope. Still not awake. A woman came in whom I know well. She brought her mother with her. When we turned around, in the hallway was a bird cage with green parakeets and blue parakeets. I thought they might be starting to nest and before I could stop her, the younger woman scooped up all the blue eggs and rushed them to the freezer so she could use the shells for paint colors. When she brought them back, I realized the embryos would be dead, but I touched the eggs and they were hot, but too hot to put under a bird. She was so happy to have those eggs. I realized I would have to wait until they were ready to lay eggs again. I was very disappointed she had ruined such a good thing just for paint colors.

She left and I went out on the porch. There, two of my cats were making love. This was a disgusting scene because it wasn’t normal…and the female cat would end up with a huge hole in her back that was sloppy wet. Then other cats started doing it, so I pushed them all aside feeling disgusted and went back into the house to finally write in my dream journal.

I had to go through a hallway which had a wooden bench, a couch, and a yellow chair with only the left arm on it which was black wrought iron. I went through the next door into the house and found the matching yellow chair with only a right wrought iron arm on it. Inside the house, which was more like an apartment building, there were toy trains on the floor with the tracks all apart and the train cars laying on their sides. I stopped to pick them up and move other toys over so people wouldn’t step on them. Other people came along with whom I had loving reunions in the scenes.

I went back to write in my dream journal. As soon as I did, another friend came to the door whom I know well in the physical and who is interested in my dreams. So, I started talking to him about how I had been five levels deep in my dreams and he was so excited because he had never known anyone to be five levels deep before. (Mind you…I’m still dreaming this. 🙂 ) So, I started telling him the story of my dream, all the way from the beginning which I haven’t even touched on here yet, and he was so excited. Finally, his wife came to fetch him and I went back to writing in my journal.

Then another man came to the door. This time a movie star…trying to think who… a large man…very popular… older.. name doesn’t come to me. He is telling me how much he missed me, but his wife is with him and she’s standing there listening to this. All around us, people are like refugees, living in tents, trying to find a place to sleep. People are arriving in cars and practically falling out of them, so glad to be out of the cars from traveling so far. I’m starting to realize I’m still dreaming because nobody goes through real life falling out of cars. I start to leave, and behind me, the man is holding his wife in his arms and telling her he is going on a mission and wants her to know that he loves her and wants her to wait for him. In my head, I’m thinking, “Oh brother! I almost fell for that too.!”

Now I wake up again, thinking I’m really awake this time. hahahaha. No such luck, I just think I am because I’m again writing my dream in the journal… only it’s longer this time.

I can’t actually see what I’d written in the dream journal before…the writing was blurry, but I hear something in front of the house. I go to the bedroom window but can’t see anything so go to my office window. I still can’t see anything, so I go to the front door, to find another visitor. Thinking I’m awake, I go back to the bedroom to get my dream journal and tell this person my dream which I just woke from… hahahaha

Finally, I wake up and find myself in my real bed. Am I really awake???? I’m really wondering. 🙂

12-20-99 – DREAM – I worked at a large factory in the office. I lived in a huge apartment building with other people. I came home from work and found a young man dressed all in white standing facing the window. He was keeping score on what was going on out on the street. The people were playing some kind of game and he was keeping track of it. I thought I could probably do it easier with a calculator, but he was doing it by moving five little white rings back and forth. I watched him a bit, but I had visitors, so I had to talk to them.

NOTE: Five white rings is the symbol of the Olympics. See below

Two women came in and I was introduced to the young dark haired woman. I was told her name was Jane Twyman and she had written many books, and I was intrigued and wondered why I had never heard of her before. Her books were about metaphysics and I wanted to read them. I planned to get them as soon as I could.

The older woman then said she had a business she wanted to sell and she wanted me to have the first opportunity to buy it. We went east on Greenfield Ave. just a few feet … we seemed to be on 70th and Greenfield where A-C was. Right on the street, set back just a few feet was a country-western bar. It was decorated with all blue lights and people stood at the bar and chatted and were having a good time. She said I could have it for only $500 down. I told her I would have to think about it, but knew that this was the bargain of a lifetime because it was a good business and the income from it would pay for the price of the business, whatever it was. It was right in front of A-C where lots of people worked and the traffic would be really good.

I then went back to the apartment and had to go to the bathroom. I had three bathrooms, but two of them were being remodeled and the toilets were torn out of them. I was going to use the good bathroom, but the man in white was using it when I got there. I went out into the hall to go to another apartment, but they were using their bathroom too, so I had to come back home and wait until I could use my own bathroom.

When I got there, I found that the man in white was remodeling my apartment and had taken the plaster off of the edge of the wall where it went down the hallway and saw that the wall was bowed out where he pointed at it. I told him he’d better not plan to take all the plaster off the walls because they were very rough. I told him the job would be endless and he laughed. He planned to replaster and paint the apartment white.

I had to change clothes and he almost caught me naked, but I had my green and white robe there and I grabbed it and held it in front of me. We were both laughing.

I never found out for sure what his name was, but I thought the other woman called him Jim and I thought for some reason that his name was Tyman… but after waking up, I thought it was probably Twyman… James Twyman. I don’t know if there was a connection between Jane and him or not. I wasn’t told that they were related. (James Twyman biography)

I went to work again then, and there were hundreds of people there. I was still thinking about the country-western bar and whether or not I should buy it. I had a feeling that the man dressed in white was a good business man and thought maybe I should ask his opinion but I didn’t really know him well. So, I asked one of the other women about him and she said she knew him and told me that he was a really fast driver. I thought then that if I ever got into a car with him, I would insist to drive it myself.

I had a huge bottle of red wine in my office… seemed like it was larger than a gallon and I decided to take it with me. I had a locker down in the basement and decided I would put it in my locker rather than take it home. I went down to the basement and the farther down the hall I went towards the elevator, the darker it got because the lights were out. Someone was following me down the hall and I started to get scared because it was getting darker and darker the farther I went. I finally stopped and let the person go by. It turned out to be a woman and she got on the elevator. The locker room door was right next to the elevator. I opened the door and entered it. It was brightly lit and hundreds of women were in there, sitting around waiting for job interviews it seemed. People would look right at me and talk and I would think they were talking to me, but they really weren’t… they were talking to the person next to them… just looking at me walk by with my huge jug of red wine.

As I walked along the hallway where all these people were sitting, I didn’t talk to anyone… my mind was full of thoughts about the country-western bar and whether or not I wanted to buy it… and whether I should ask the man in white for business advice. I hadn’t gotten to my locker yet either. I just kept walking and thinking until I woke up.

All I know is that when I thought about James Twyman… I was feeling so much love I could hardly stand to just lay there. I needed to do something with it. (James Twyman photos) (Emissary of Light painting) (The Peace Prayers)

VISION – After I woke up, still thinking about the dream and all it’s facets, I had a vision of a coin collection in a white plastic case. There were four silver dollars in it, the upper right one was ‘Mercury’ with wings. (Numismatic Links)

Hermes’ roman name Mercury is not just a name, but also an element. Mercury is known as quicksilver, because it flows easily, and it’s silvery. This is all because Hermes was such a quick god.

Olympus now is the root word used in the Olympic Games and the Olympic Mountains. The Olympic Games are a competition that takes place every four years where the world’s best athletes compete against one another. The Olympic Mountains are mountains on the Olympic Peninsula in the state of Washington.

12-30-99 – DREAM – I was at a school, which was made of grey stone. It seemed to be a school for adults and I was one of the teachers. I participated in some kind of ceremony. I don’t know how this was accomplished, but there were 8 glossy black cards, each with a man wearing a red cape that was floor length on the back, facing away… so you saw only his back and the cape, not his face. The cards were placed such:

In the ceremony, the man in the red cape made broad sweeping arm gestures which were accompanied by sound of perhaps a trumpet or something that sounded like a trumpet. Each arm movement had it’s own musical tone. Only the bottom two cards were sounded in this particular ceremony. The one on the left corner had three arm movements and three sounds. The one on the right had two arm movements and two sounds. One could assume from that that the other cards had arm movements and sound also, starting with nine on the upper left, ending with the two on the bottom right. There was no card in the number one position.

After the ceremony, I was talking in a quiet conversation with another female teacher and kinda choked on a word and made a sound that ended with a ‘isht’ sound, then continued the sentence. Afterwards, I discovered that one of the male teachers had tape recorded this whole thing, the ceremony, plus my conversation and intended to give it to a radio broadcast station. He was telling others that I had said a ‘bad’ word ending in ‘isht’ perhaps there is such a word in a foreign language. However, I had not said a word, only cleared my throat and I became irate that he was going to do this terrible deed to defame me. So, I went into the classroom where he sat surrounded by other male teachers. I confronted him and demanded that he give me the audio tape with my voice on it. I was very assertive and said, “Give me the tape NOW!” His face blanched white when he knew that I had heard what he had done. I held out my hand to receive the tape, and he took one of the five audio tapes he held in one hand and gave it to me.

I then discovered that this same man could have made a video of the ceremony because there was an upper level overlooking the room where the ceremony was done, and I recognized my classroom when I was up there looking through the overlooking window. I pointed this out to another female teacher.

I then went into another room on the first level to change back into my street clothes. There was a pass-through window and my music teacher from high school was standing on the other side of it. (I note here that he played the trumpet in a band and was pretty famous in our home town. He also led a marching band and was the drum major for it. Perhaps he was the man in the cape in the ceremony.) I touched his shoulder so he knew I was standing there, and thanked him for standing up for me. He smiled in acknowledgement, but then when I was changing clothes, he tried to watch, so I had to hide so he wouldn’t see me without my outer garments on.

In the classroom, I had worn a heavy woolen suit with a jacket and skirt, the color which was like stone tan/beige. That was not suitable for street wear. One could say it was like a professional uniform of the school.

One of my theories about the great change of mankind is that it involves a duality balance across scales. I wrote a little about it in my 1992 Dream Network Journal article:

I briefly mentioned a dream with a tidal wave in the same article. Here is a full account of the dream:

Randy’s dream

I was with my wife and child at a hospital in San Francisco. The building was right at the edge of the ocean. I walked outside onto a dock or wharf over the water. There were many, many Navy ships all over the sea. I was frightened, a war was about to happen. I looked up and saw five airplanes very high up, flying in a “V” formation. The lead airplane had a huge bomb dangling below it. I thought it was a nuclear bomb. I ran for the hospital door, just as the bomb was dropped. I glanced back and saw all the Navy ships going in reverse over the horizon. I rejoined my family. We and the others in the hospital looked out the windows and saw great winds blowing back and forth, carrying debris along with it. The brick walls of the hospital bowed in under the pressure. Then we saw a gigantic tidal wave coming right toward us. The wave broke all of the windows, and a dead boy fell in. But instead of water, a green, jelly-like substance came in through the windows.

Roberta, the editor of the Dream Network Journal, told me a dream of three tidal waves striking the shore. The foam from the last wave went up into the sky and formed geometric patterns. She saw three gigantic human figures on the horizon of the sea. They looked like Gods/Goddesses.

She had another dream where she was in the ocean among the waves. Suddenly a wave stopped, and started going in the opposite direction. She wrote a poem about it, which concluded, “The tide is turning! The tide is turning! The tide is turning!”

I haven’t heard of any standing tidal wave dreams, but I would like to hear about them.

My guess is that one of the meanings is that the waves are vibrational signals from the spirit or collective unconscious realm. Thus, a tidal wave is a BIG message. They are destructive when they hit the land, meaning metaphorically that our belief-houses will be swept away. We will then build new ones, of course.

There are lots and lots of flooding, raining and other water dreams. One connection to keep in mind is that the Age of Pisces (Noah) that is near its end, and the Age of Aquarius, the Water Bearer, is near. They are both “water” signs. This seems to appear in dreams such as lakes drying up with fish flopping out of the water, and dreams of drinking or receiving fresh drinking water.

The Bythorn Mandala crop formation appeared. It was VERY similar to a yantra to Kali, depicted in “The Tantric Way.”

The five-pointed star inside the pattern, had two points facing North. According to Blavatsky, such a star, with two points, or horns, pointing upward, is an esoteric symbol of the Kali-Yuga time cycle, also known as the Age of Iron.

In any case the American tradition is not unique (although it is certainly “characteristic”–that is, autochthonous). It appears rather that all known versions of these symbols and myths are adaptations of a single nonhistorical event woven into the tissue of the human being. The number five, which is at the basis of the Precolumbian cosmogony–the four cardinal points and the center or quintessence–is, by definition, the numeral of man, the microcosm for Western symbolism, as well as the place of the Emperor (as mediator, governor, and administrator) in Chinese tradition. And this human being, image of the vertical, is dual, existing entirely between two poles, the highest and the lowest, the heavenly and the earthly, the divine and the human, the vertical and the horizontal, the sacred and the profane–which, like any pair of opposites that only seem to be contradictory, must have a common, unitary point at which they join.

This 245, for me,  has always represented the two tritone positions either side of the mirror. This position is a 4.5 within the major scale. It also replicated itself along the 45 degree angle. The 245 also breaks down to an 11, and it is the 11th overtone either side of the mirror that contains the same invisible like axis at a tritone interval away from the fundamental tone.

Your Integrated Circuit is spot on!! That is how we should learn to build any machines in the future. A machine must contain a tonal fountain, have components at 45 degree angles, that are tuned to the star of David symbol that mirroring throws up.

Once it is clearly seen that there is only one mirror structure possible, and it comes to resemble a Star of David, it is amazing how many other ways there are of finding it. Numbers point to this same structure. Yet they must be numbers as reflected within an overall symmetrical picture. Here is an example of what will throw up the organic structure within nature:

The F A C# is one of the triangles that combines to make a star of David symbol.

Every number treated this way will produce the triangle frequencies in  the same was as is produced when the major scale is mirrored. But that
is not the same as putting music to a real physical mirror. One mirrors the formulas that build the scales. In fact all that is happening within
these numbers are that the Phi portion equates to slightly less than a  minor 6th. Using symmetrical number arrays gives access to the creative
principle within Phi. That implies that the same process is evident on the mirror side of music scales and numbers.

This same Star of David structure appears within the zodiac chart, and can also be run in tandem with the Tzolkin grid. I have come to know it
as the consciousness aspect within the Form.

Pentagram

The pentagram has long been associated with mystery and magic. It is

the simplest form of star shape that can be drawn unicursally – with a

single line – hence it is sometimes called the Endless Knot. Other

names are the Goblin’s Cross, the Pentalpha, the Witch’s Foot, the

Devil’s Star and the Seal of Solomon (more correctly attributed to the

hexagram).

It has long been believed to be a potent protection against evil and

demons, hence a symbol of safety, and was sometimes worn as an    amulet

for happy homecoming. The old folk-song : “Green Grow the

Rushes, O!” refers to the use of the pentagram above doors and

windows in the line: “Five is the symbol at your door.”

The potency and associations of the pentagram have evolved throughout history. Today it is an ubiquitous symbol of neo-pagans with muh  depth of magickal and symbolic meaning.

The Pentagram through History.

The pentagram symbol today is ascribed many meanings and deep

significance, though much of this is very recent. However, it has been

used throughout history and in many contexts:

* The earliest known use of the pentagram dates back to around

3500BC at Ur of the Chaldees in Ancient Mesopotamia where it was

symbolic of imperial power.

* Amongst the Hebrews, the symbol was ascribed to Truth and to the

five books of the Pentateuch. It is sometimes, incorrectly, called

the Seal of Solomon (see Hexagram).

* In Ancient Greece, it was called the Pentalpha, being

geometrically composed of five A’s. Unlike earlier civilizations,

the Greeks did not generally attribute other symbolic meanings to

the letters of their alphabet, but certain symbols became

connected with Greek letter shapes or positions (eg Gammadion,

Alpha-Omega).

* To the Gnostics, the pentagram was the ‘Blazing Star’.

* For the Druids, it was a symbol of Godhead.

* In Egypt, it was a symbol of the ‘underground womb’.

* The Pagan Celts ascribed the pentagram to the underground goddess

Morrigan.

* Medieval Christians attributed the pentagram to the Five Wounds of

Christ.

* The Christian Emperor Constantine I used the pentagram, together

with the chi-rho symbol in his seal and amulet.

* In the legend of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the pentagram

was Sir Gawain’s glyph, inscribed in gold on his shield,

symbolizing the five knightly virtues.

* In Medieval times, the ‘Endless Knot’ was a symbol of Truth and

was a protection against demons. It was used as personal

protection and to guard windows and doors.

* The pentagram with one point upwards symbolized summer; with two

points upwards, it was a sign for winter.

+ During the long period of the Inquisition, the pentagram was

seen to symbolize a Goat’s Head. In the purge on witches, the

horned god Pan became equated with the Devil (a Christian

concept) and the pentagram, for the first time in history

became a symbol of ‘evil’ and was called the Witch’s Foot.

* In the emergence of Hermeticism, graphical symbolism became very

important. The concept of the microcosmic world of Man as

analogous to the macrocosm, the greater universe of spirit and

elemental matter is a part of traditional occult teaching in both

western and eastern philosophies. “As above, so below.”

The pentagram, the ‘Star of the Microcosm’, symbolized Man within

the microcosm, representing in analogy the Macrocosmic universe.

The upright pentagram bears some resemblance to the

shape of man with his legs and arms outstretched; indeed an

illustration attributed to Agrippa or to Tycho Brae (1582)

illustrates the similarity of proportion in this image, showing

the five planets and the moon at the center point – the genitalia.

There are other illustrations of the period by Robert Fludd and

Leonardo da Vinci showing geometrical relationships of man to the

universe.

+ Later, the pentagram came to be symbolic of the relationship

of the head to the four limbs and hence of the pure

concentrated essence of anything (or the spirit) to the four

traditional elements of matter. – [Quintessence]

* In Freemasonry, Man as Microprosopus was associated with the

five-pointed Seal of Solomon. The symbol was used, interlaced and

upright for the sitting Master of the Lodge. The geometric

properties and structure of the Endless Knot were appreciated and

symbolically incorporated into the 72 degree angle of the

compasses.

* The women’s branch of freemasonry uses the five pointed ‘Eastern

Star’ as its emblem. Each point commemorates a heroine of biblical

lore.

+ No graphical illustration of any association of the pentagram

with evil appears until the nineteenth century. Eliphas Levi

illustrates the upright pentagram of microcosmic man beside

an inverted pentagram with the goat’s head of Baphomet.

In ritual magick the sign has long been used as a ritual flourish

of the athame to symbolize invoking or banishing in respect to

elemental associations.

* In the 1940’s Gerald Gardner adopted the pentagram with two points

upward as the sigil of second degree initiation in the newly

emergent, neo-pagan rituals of witchcraft, later to become known

as Wicca. The one-point upward pentagram together with the upright

triangle symbolized third degree initiation.

* The pentagram was also inscribed on the altar pentacle, it’s

points symbolizing the three aspects of the Goddess plus the two

aspects of the God.

* It was not until the late 1960’s that the pentagram again became

an amuletic symbol to be worn and has since then become firmly

established as a common neo-pagan and Wiccan symbol, acquiring

many aspects of mystique and associations that are today often

considered to be ancient folk-lore!

Nevertheless, the potency of a symbol has more to do with its

associations and its commonality than with its antiquity and the

pentagram today is ubiquitous amongst neo-pagans.

Symbolic Meanings of the Pentagram.

* The number ‘5’ has always been regarded as mystical and magical,

yet essentially ‘human’.

+ We have five fingers/toes on each limb extremity.

+ We commonly note five senses – sight, hearing, smell, touch

and taste.

+ We perceive five stages or initiations in our lives – e.g..

birth, adolescence, coitus, parenthood and death. (There are

other numbers/ initiations/stages/attributions).

* The number 5 is associated with Mars. It signifies severity,

conflict and harmony through conflict.

* In Christianity, five were the wounds of Christ on the cross.

* There are five pillars of the Muslim faith and five daily times of

prayer.

* Five were the virtues of the medieval knight – generosity,

courtesy, chastity, chivalry and piety as symbolized in the

pentagram device of Sir Gawain.

* The Wiccan Kiss is Fivefold – feet, knees, womb, breasts, lips –

Blessed be.

The number 5 is prime. The simplest star – the pentagram- requires

five lines to draw and it is unicursal; it is a continuous loop.

Expressing the saying “Every man and every woman is a star”,

we can juxtapose Man on a pentagram with head and four limbs at the

points and the genitalia exactly central. This is Man in microcosm,

symbolizing our place in the Macrocosm or universe and the

Hermetic/Tantric philosophy of associativity – “As above, so below”.

The geometric proportions of the regular pentagram are those of the

Golden Section.

* The Golden Proportion is one beloved of artists since Renaissance

times, being those of a rectangle considered most pleasing in

proportion. Here, the ratio of the lengths of the two sides is

equal to the ratio of the longer side to the sum of the two sides.

Or :

a/b = b/a+b = a+b/a+2b = a+2b/2a+3b = 2a+3b/3a+5b ….etc.

* If a square is added to the long side of a golden rectangle, a

larger golden rectangle is formed. Continuing this progression

forms the basis for a nautilus spiral.

* The ratio of the distance between two points of a pentagram to its

total width is in the golden proportion, as is the ratio of the

height above the horizontal bar to that below, as is the ratio of

a central part of a line to the outer part.

* This ratio forms the foundation of the Fibonacci series of numbers

1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,144, etc where each number is formed by

adding the previous two numbers.

* The Fibonacci series is much found in nature in the pattern

arrangement of flower heads and leaves and many flower heads and

fruits themselves exhibit a fivefold symmetry.

* The pentagram has long been believed to be a potent protection

against evil, a symbol of conflict that shields the wearer and the

home.

* The pentagram has five spiked wards and a womb shaped defensive,

protective pentagon at the center.

* There are five elements, four of matter (earth, air, fire and

water) and THE quintessential – spirit. These may be arrayed

around the pentagrams points.

+ The word ‘quintessential’ derives from this fifth element –

the spirit.

* Single point upwards signifies the spirit ruling matter (mind

ruling limbs); is a symbol of rightness. With two points up and

one (spirit) downwards, subservient, the emphasis is on the carnal

nature of Man.

* Tracing a path around the pentagram, the elements are placed in

order of density – spirit (or aether). fire, air, water, earth.

Earth and fire are basal, fixed; air and water are free, flowing.

* These point attributions are used in ritually inscribing, as a

flourish of the hands or the athame, different forms of pentagram

for invoking or banishing (grounding) each of the elementals

according to the nature of the ritual. The line traces as

illustrated for earth (the last stroke is optional).

Another way of seeing this path is as Man’s spiritual journey through

evolution. The spark of Life descending from God, the divine source of

life to the simplest embryonic form (earth), rising to flow (water –

air) on our plane of existence (compare with the intonation of the AUM

mantra), then again descending to the fire of purification before

again rising as a divine spark to find again his spiritual source.

* The pentagram may be shown as an interlaced line symbolic of the

web-weaving power of magick. The descending spirit-earth line may

pass under (male) or over (female) the water-air line to give two

slightly differing forms.

* A pentagram may be open, without a surrounding circle. This is the

active form symbolizing an outgoing of oneself, prepared for

conflict, aware, active. (One wearing an open pentagram must be

physically aware of the danger of sharp points sticking in their

skin from time to time !)

* A circle around a pentagram contains and protects. It is the

passive form implying spiritual containment of the magic circle.

The circle also represents eternity and infinity.

Inverted Pentagram

* The pentagram may be inverted with one point down. The implication

is of spirit subservient to matter, of man subservient to his

carnal desires.

* The inverted pentagram has come to be seen by many pagans as

representing the dark side and it is abhorred as an evil symbol.

Fundamental Christians, indeed, see any form of pentagram as such.

* However, these are recent developments and the inverted pentagram

is the symbol of Gardnerian second degree initiation, representing

the need of the witch to learn to face the darkness within so that

it may not later rise up to take control.

* The center of a pentagram implies a sixth formative element –

love/will which controls from within, ruling matter and spirit by

Will and the controlled magickal direction of sexual energies.

This is another lesson of initiation.

jewelry – pendant, ring, earrings, buckle, etc….

– The earliest recorded use of the pentagram as a mystical symbol was by

the Gnostics, who called it the Blazing Star.  It was also considered by

Christians during the middle ages to be a symbol of the Five Wounds of

Christ, and used as a protective glyph, generally as a variation on the

Seal of Solomon (a Star of David within a circle).

– The association of the pentagram with non-Christian belief, and its

modern “elemental” analysis, were evidently introduced during the

revival of occultism in the 17th and 18th centuries.  The Masons and

similar groups such as the OTO took it up–for example, A.E. Waite is

the person who introduced the symbol into the Tarot deck, replacing

the traditional suit of Coins.

– The use of the “inverted” pentagram to denote evil is a quite recent

usage, and first appears in the works of Eliphas Levi.  He is also the

source of the “goat’s head” glyph.  Before this, neither orientation

had evil connotations per se.

– The modern pagan movement picked up the pentagram as part of a general

borrowing from earlier “occult” usage, and Wicca in particular has

taken it up as an explicit denotational symbol, similar to the

cross, the Thor’s hammer, and so on.

According to my own research so far:

The categorization of the “inverted” (one-point-down) pentagram as

“evil” vs.  the “upright” (one-point-up) pentagram as “good”

originates in the writings of Eliphas Levi in the 19th Century, most

notably the works “The History of Magic” and “Doctrine and Ritual of

Transcendental Magic.”  He is also the originator of the now-infamous

goat’s head glyph.  Eliphas Levi (actually the pen name of Alphonse

Louis Constant, a French Catholic deacon) was one of a number of

writers who constituted a reaction against 18th century rationalism.

His works have had a lasting effect on French magical traditions, and

were instrumental in the development of the Tarot as a serious tool of

Hermetic magic, despite its humble beginnings in Gypsy fortune-telling.

Levi was the first Hermetic writer to assign an elemental (or perhaps

more accurately, alchemical) meaning to the pentagram, which before

him had been used principally as a protective glyph denoting the five

wounds of Christ (and as such, occurs in both orientations in Gothic

cathedrals and cloisters all across Europe)).

Now, I would be more than interested to hear about evidence that

contradicts the derivation I give above; however, I have yet to come

across any “evil” connotations of the pentagram, or the orientation

thereof, that predate Eliphas Levi (who lived from 1810-1875).

This is not to say that his analysis is nonsense–far otherwise, in

fact.  If you apply his elemental attributions to the points of the

figure, the orientation does indeed profoundly affect the resulting

connotations.  However, it is a mistake to believe that this

interpretation is any more “traditional” than 150 or so years, or for

that matter particularly pagan.  It has, however, been picked up by

modern paganism, and has been (comparatively speaking) neglected by

modern hermeticism, which has focused primarily on the Tarot and the

Kabbalah.

writings of Petro de Abano might turn up earlier European usage.

In the book Symbols of t Prehistoric Mesopotamia by Beatrice Laura Goff , the

pentagram is shown and related to the Uruk (Biblical)Eriech)period of

Mesopotamian civilization (3500 B.C>.E.).  This sign is located on potsherds

in the location of Uruk (near the mouth of the Gulf), and is in the company of

signs relating to the beginning of written language.  In the book Symbols of

the Gods o in Mesopotamian Art by E.Douglas Van Buren, we find the Pentagram

belonging to the archaic period UrukIV, and more frequently on Jemdet

Nasr(3100-2900B.C>.E.) and Proto-Elamite tablets (3000-2500B.C.E.).  The title

suggested for the sign is revealing, UB , ‘explained as “the very sign used in

the royal inscriptions to designate, in a somewhat obscuretitle, a power

extending to the ‘four corners of the world”.  These points are the four

corners of the compass.

To say “the pentagram was considered an evil symbol by the Christians” is

a little … well, general.

I haven’t searched the whole corpus of Christian literature, and tallied

up all the mentions of pentagrams-good and pentagrams-bad, but I would

like to point out that (a) the pentagram occurs in “Sir Gawain and the Green

Knight,” and not as an evil symbol; (b) the pentagram was often regarded

as emblematic of the Five Wounds of Christ; and (c) the pentagram was

not an evil symbol for Pythagoreans, and there was a strong current

of admiration, in Christian tradition (though not a unanimous one), for

“noble pagans” — Pythagoras, Plato, various Stoics, Plotinus, and so

on.  A good example of the ambivalence in Christian tradition toward

writers and thinkers is Dante’s treatment of Virgil.

Can anyone come up with a specific text originating from the first

thousand years of Christianity denouncing the pentagram as an innately

evil symbol?  I wouldn’t be surprised, myself, if the first occurrence

of such texts was some time within the past two centuries.  Or five

centuries.

The pentagram was used early on by the Xian church (particularly in the

East).  Their use was, of course, point-up.

The inverted cross was also used by the Xians.  It is known in

traditional mythology as St. Peter’s cross.  Peter did not believe he was

worthy enough to die in the same way that Jesus had, so he begged to

crucified upside-down.  (Or so the legend goes.)

There is, of course, the “standard” pagan reply:  the five points

represent the five elements.  It is “positive” if it is point-up because

it represents the mastery of mind/spirit over mere matter.  It is

“negative” if worn point down because spirit is immersed in or ruled by

the physical rather than mental plane.  (CUE: End of standard reply.)

Now for some other possibilities that are somewhat less standard.  The

five stages of humanity (or the five stages of life, if you prefer) are

represented.  Speaking purely in terms of age, there are: Babyhood,

Adolescence, Adulthood, Middle Age, and Old Age.  In terms of life

occurrences, there are: Birth, Initiation, Love, Repose, and Death.

In Egypt the five-pointed star represented the underground womb.  To the

pagan Celts, the pentagram was particularly associated with Morrigan, the

underground goddess.

To Hermetic magicians (and many others now), the five-pointed star

represented Man in the Microcosm, with his head at the top, hands out to

the sides, and legs below.  His genitalia were in the center of the

pentagram.

To Christians (yes, they managed to get a hold of this symbol, too) the

pentagram represented the five wounds of Christ at the crucifixion.

In ancient Greece, the Pythagoreans called this symbol the Pentalpha,

since it is five capital ‘A’ figures interlaced.

As for the point-down pentagram being “evil”, there are a couple of

different answers to that.  Yes, modern culture has led to the popular

notion that this is an evil symbol.  However, It is also a representative

of the Horned God.  Yes, it looks like a goat’s head.  The Horned God’s

most common five forms are represented by the points: human, goat, ram,

stag and bull.

Given the Christian propensity to turn the Horned God into the Devil, is

it any wonder that this seems to be associated with the Christian

Devil?

I understand that this symbol also has some Qabalistic significance, but

I am pitifully ignorant of the ways of the Qabala.  Perhaps someone

else could enlighten you about that part of it.

Another important thing to remember is that the pentagram is a

unicursal figure.  That is, it can be drawn without lifting pen/cil from

paper.  It also means that each of the five (or more) things that are

represented are *irrevocably* connected to one another, unless the line

is broken.  No one thing is any stronger or better than the other – they

are all dependent upon one another.

The pentagram has meant many things to many different people/groups thoughout

history, including strangely enough within the Catholic church itself,

during various parts of the middle ages it was seen as a symbol of truth,

you can find indications of this in some Arthurian legends (i don’t recall

the details, however one of the knights in one of the accounts was supposed

to have a shield with the symbol).

…in Great Britain, the inverted pentagram is the sign of a second level

Wiccan Student in the Gardnerian Tradition. Because of the fear frenzy of

the Fundamentalists, in  this country another symbol is used. And the

symbols may be very different in different parts of the world as to how

to identify either a Satanist or a second level Gardnerian Student.

Well, according to my tradition, four of the points represent the

elements of Earth, Air, Fire & Water.  The fifth point represents the

spiritual.  Now, reference to up or down…Up is representative of the

higher spiritual plane, down is representative of inner spirituality.

…the pentagram as a symbol for Satanism was a figment of some

fundies’ collective imaginations then adopted by Satanists.  To lend

further credence, it was pointed out that a point-down pentagram looked

a little like a goat’s head, said to be a Satanic creature.  Actually,

this reference first showed up centuries ago when the Roman Catholic

Church attempted to slander Pan and His followers.

Joseph of Aramathia came to the Isle of angels after the crucifixion of

Christ. There are those who believe that Jesus himself came to Britain and

was taught by the Druids during his early adulthood.

Regardless the people of Britain saw remarkable religious similarities

between their own beliefs and those of the EARLY Christians. There is proof

that the British practiced both religions side by side.

Later when the Roman church was in ascendancy they started to subvert other

religious practices. For some reason, whether to show displeasure of Rome,

or whether the Church itself initiated the practice, those who where against

the church inverted their crosses and since the Pentagram was worn with it it

also was inverted.

There are a lot of pagans out here that use an inverted pentagram as a

banishing/grounding pentagram that aren’t involved in Satanism at all.

Both the upright and inverted pentagram are tools and nothing more.  They

are symbols of a way that ritual and magick and energy are moved.  How

each person or group of people chooses to *use* such symbols is the key

issue.  If you use an inverted pentagram for “Black Magic”  (Ghod how I

hate that term.  Especially since Black Magick for me designates only

those workings done in the dark phase of the moon.) then it is the energy

that you focus and the direction that *you* choose that makes them “evil”

in symbology.

The pentagram itself is an extremely ancient symbol, with various forms

and significances in different cultures — much like the cross.

The magical pentagram as used in a ritual which projects it to the four

quarters is a relatively recent innovation, apparently no older than

the Golden Dawn (or possibly Eliphas Levi.)  The ritual authors derived

the symbol from older sources, probably including the Pythagoreans, and

built the ritual from it and other materials, such as a Jewish night

prayer.  This is the form in which the pentagram is used by modern

paganism, which employs numerous variations on the Golden Dawn

pentagram ritual as the basic framework for circle work.

while “praying” to the spirits who can then “sit” on each of the five

as do the upright and skew pentagrams.  Aside from prudery in symbolism

apparently originating in the 19th century, the abuse of this symbol

by associating it with evil or “Devil Worship”, in the Christian sense,

is an act of religious intolerance on a level with racism in Nazi

Germany.  Use of the inverted pentagram by non-Christian Satanists is

harmless, no different from use of the swastika by the Theosophical

Society.  Hate groups have attempted to use the inverted and other

orientations of the pentagram to engage authorities in the suppression

of non-Christian religious organizations, much as the Proctor and Gamble

logo has been associated with irrelevant interpretations by certain

Christian groups selling competitive products door-to door.

Accordingly, the pentagram in its various orientations is an appropriate

symbol of solidarity with victims of bigotry.  Wear it proudly and

display it in your windows.  If that had been done with the Hexagram

in 1930’s Germany, 9 million Jews, Gypsies and Masons might have been

saved from untimely and horrible death.  Avoidance of this symbol may

result in: A. tacit endorsement of abuse of minorities for financial and

other gain.  B. encouragement of children to adopt this symbol as a

justification for destructive behavior.

1) Many Satanists don’t wear an inverted cross. They have no use for

that symbol, which has nothing whatsoever to do with our religion or

philosophy.

2) The Pentagram has no “right side up” or down orientation. It’s an

almost circular symbol, which can be used one-point-up, one-point-

down, one-point-right, one-point-left, or askew. There are some Pagan

and Wiccan folk who use what you call the “inverted” pentagram as a

symbol of their initiation. There are some Satanists who use the

pentagram in other ways than what you call “inverted.”

My personal use is one-point-down, for reasons based in the discussion

of symbolism in the Temple of Set’s _Crystal Tablet. It has nothing to

do with any Pagan, Wicca, or Christian use of a similar symbol.

Supposedly, a “good” pentagram has only one point up, and the “inverted”

pentagram, which is associated with “evil” devils and demons (!) is

hated. “White” witches are quick to point out that the pentagrams they

wear around their necks are not “evil” etc, and even Anton LaVey

(founder, Church of Satan) says that he uses the two point up pentagram

to represent man’s carnal (vs “spiritual” nature), which is basically

correct. What he does not mention is that the two point up pentagram is

older and much more common. The one point up pentagram was basically

something that came along with the “Wicca” movement via Gerald Gardner et

al; in other words, it is recent and invented by people born and raised

Christian. Fact. Well, looking back through historical stuff, the theme

of 5 things is extremely common and is associated with the Goddess (ref.

_The White Goddess_ by Robert Graves: well known book). Looking through

certain art, you can also find a pentagram, which is always 2 points up.

You can go to your library and get any book of Tantrik art to see this.

Freemasons use it to mean “man”, which is also easily verifiable. The

point is, the pentagram goes way back and is common, perhaps because the

image and general shape is common in nature: many animal faces have

this shape and plants do as well, but only if it has 2 points up. Both of

the referenced mystical groups are older than the “white witches” and the

movement in general. This is something you should be able to research and

see for yourself pretty easily.

…as I said, the two easiest groups that use this and are known to

be old, etc, are the Freemasons and Tantriks, which are groups not

historically related and have different origins and traditions, but both

use a two-point up pentagram. The Freemasons call it the Eastern Star,

and you can probably get a graphic file of this off of the internet (so

you don’t even have to go to the library). Check “Alt.Freemasonry” (I

think it is) and maybe someone can give you pointers; you can also see on

that group Freemasons being accused of using the “devil’s sign”, which

is funny, since Freemasons have been along much longer than the Church of

Satan! For the Tantrik stuff, most any art history book about it will

have at least one pentagram in there: I have seen them either in “symbols

relating cosmos” pictures or chakra diagrams. Since most books draw on

basically the same materials, I cannot recommend a specific one. Just

look in the computer under “Tantrik art” or “art Tantrik”.

The Pentagram business is a *convention*, not an absolute. But it’s been

intentionally built up and reinforced over the last 20-30 years as the

American Wiccan/NeoPagan movement has evolved. Most people are taught that

the upright star represents the human “Spirit”: an individual person in

charge of their own destiny, and unifying the other Four Elements within

him/herself. So far, so good, right?

In the late 1960’s, a whole bunch of books on Witchcraft, Magick, and

Occultism came out. There was a big “fad” thing happening there for

awhile, probably due to the influence of the Counterculture. Enquiring

minds wanted to know: Is there magic(k)? Does it work? How can I do it?

Will I go to Hell for doing it? And suddenly there were all these books.

In this era, Anton LaVey started the Church of Satan and published “The

Satanic Bible”. Obviously his Church needed a logo, and so he turned to

the works of Eliphas Levi, the 19th-century French Occultist. Levi lived

in a repressive time and place (he was actually a Catholic priest) and got

his writings past the censors by making a big, bold distinction between

Good and Evil. It is Levi’s famous engraving of “Baphomet” which became

the Official Satanist Logo: modified and somewhat updated to include the

Inverted Pentagram emphasizing the Horns of Satan.

But in Wica, as founded by Gerald Gardner, the Inverted Pentagram was used

as a symbol of the Second Degree, which treats of the Horned One and his

powers of Transformation: Death, Love, and Rebirth. So to Witches (at

least from 1949 on) it had a different, more “neutral” meaning. In English

practice it is still used as the Second-Degree symbol. (Perhaps in certain

ways the Brits tend to be more sensible and less superstitious than we,

yes?)

But not here in the USA, oh no! As soon as the inverted-Pentagram Satanic

Logo got identified in the public mind with Evil Black Magic(k), those

anxious to distinguish Wicca from Satanism made it quite plain that “we”

only use the Upright Star. I can’t blame the American Craft for this: it

was an expedient demanded by the time. (If you think we got “clueless

newbies” now, you should have seen what was out there then!)

And so the Upright Pentagram has gone down, over time (but not that much

time, really) as the symbol for those whose magic(k) is “Positive” (Good)

not “Negative” (Baaaad). As for the Inverse Pentagram — just try wearing

one to a party, especially if you’re fifteen years old — and see how much

attention you get! “Eeevil” still equals “Sexy and Dangerous” in our

culture; add the “I *am* a Master Warlock” spin and you may *actually get

laid*! So you can understand why the Inverse Pentagram is a big boon to

lonely, horny people still in the “Workin’ the Bar 101” phase of

development. (Anton LaVey certainly did!)

Witches are supposed to be, IMHO, more subtle than that. If you appreciate

the distinction between raw fish and sushi you probably giggle at people

who wear Inverse Pentagrams. But don’t get in their face with it — for

most of them it’s legitimate self-assertion, given a culture in which they

must wrestle with the Xtian notion that it’s “evil” to Just Be Themselves.

Sooner or later they may discover more subtle aspects of Magic(k) — or

maybe not, if it really works for them. Meanwhile a strongly-projected (if

unspoken) “that’s *tacky!*” will usually take care of the “problem”.

Masonic. Leonardo de Vinci uses it in his very famous drawing of a Man

Be it one or two points up, the position is really irrelevant.  In both

Pagan/Wiccan and Satanist traditions it depends on which way that the

Pentagram is drawn.  If being used for the positive or “gathering” means,

it is traditionally drawn clockwise.  If being used to negate or

“diminish”, it is drawn counterclockwise.   However, the fact that one

way is “evil” while the other is not is up to one’s own perception.

Throughout the ages, many religious symbols have been used to serve

one’s own means and by that they tend to have been corrupted.

More Star Stuff &c. (Long Post):

1. Freemasonry

In Masonic tradition, the upright interlaced Pentagram is sometimes used

to symbolize the sitting Master of the Lodge. This is an old tradition,

very popular in the 18th and 19th centuries, especially in English Lodges.

It has fallen into disuse here here in the US, possibly because of the

association of the Pentagram with Occultism. (Masons have enough trouble

with gratuitous prejudice without using a symbol popularly thought to be

a “negative” one.)

However, I have seen several antique Past Master’s Jewels (presented by

the Lodge to the outgoing Master on his retirement from the East) in which

the Interlaced Pentagram is superimposed upon the Compasses, with the

traditional carved moonstone at its center. It may also be noted that a

“hidden” aspect of the symbolic Pentagram exists in the 72o angle of the

open Compasses as seen in Freemasonry’s standard logo. This is intentional.

As for “Eastern Star”: I am a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a

Masonic Women’s Organization, (founded in the 1860’s) whose symbol is the

five-pointed Star (*not* the Interlaced Pentagram).  Each Star Point

represents a heroine of Biblical lore (three from the Old Testament and

two from the New) who exemplifies a Feminine Mystery. For example, I sit

— quite a treat for a Goddess-worshipper like me.

In most State Jurisdictions, the “Eastern Star” is seen with two points

up, something the National organization refuses to change despite what I

imagine can be rather nasty pressure from local Fundamentalist groups. In

New York State (where the O.E.S. was founded) however, our Star has

*always* been seen with one point upright. I don’t know why the others

originally chose the reversed Star, but I’ll ask someone from out-of-state

sometime and perhaps then be able to report on it.

The version I know of the logic behind this goes:

Pentagram points=             Head(Spirit)

L.ARM (Air)                         R.ARM (Fire)

L.Leg (Earth)            R.Leg (Water)

And is symbolic of the triumph of Mind over man/the elements. (good)

The Inverse pentagram being symbolic of the domination of the

spirit/will/mind by the earthly forces, Lust,Greed,etc. (bad)

Therefore ‘Whites’ seeking to control their bodily urges wear the ‘good’

type. ‘Blacks’ glorifying and magnifying their bodily urges wear the ‘bad’

type.

Crowley’s view was that neither version was intrinsically good or bad but was

merely a classic magical instance of an Aspect. Each should be used

according to the object of the ritual/talisman or the forces being invoked.

Example: When invoking Elementals to actually DO work a base up point down

should be used and when invoking Intelligences to answer questions, offer

guidance etc. then a point up pentagram should be used.

The single-point-up pentagram in fact appears in the ancient verse about

Sir Gawaine and the Green Knight. Sir Gawaine carries a shield with a

pentagram emblazoned on it like a coat of arms. The poem states that

the pentagram symbolizes, among other things, the five senses, the five

fingers, and the five Knightly Virtues (Courtesy, Chastity, Generosity,

Brotherly Love, and Pity — interestingly, courage is not included).

A weird thing about the five-pointed star: every ten years (I think?  Uh

oh, maybe that’s wrong… anyway, every [insert time period here]) the

planet Venus traces a perfect pentagram across the sky when viewed from

earth.

The Pythagoreans used to wear it on their robes–none of them every really

told my *why*.

The Greeks may have (and probably did) derive the mathematical

formulae for inscribing a perfect pentagram, but the symbol itself

probably predates them.  I believe I’ve seen pictures of pentagrams

in African petroglyphs, for instance.

It seems more likely to me that the Pythagorean rather than the

Platonic schools revered the symbol.  I recall no discussion of

mathematical formulae in Platonic literature – which doesn’t mean it

doesn’t exist, merely that it is overwhelmed in my memory by other,

mostly political philosophies. I believe that the Pythagoreans were

more apt to be regarded by other Greeks as cultists than were

students of Plato, but I’ll admit that the impression is gleaned

more from Mary Renault than from contemporary sources.

And, for what it is worth, the early fathers of the Xian church

selected the pentagram to represent the Star of Bethlehem for a

reason:  it symbolizes the Pentagrammaton, YHVShH, Yehoveshah, which

was translated into Greek as Jesus.  Both the Tetragrammaton and the

Pentagrammaton appear to predate Kabalah, the earliest sources for

which are found, I believe, in twelfth or thirteenth century France

and Germany – but they do not predate the sources from which the

Kabalah was drawn.  That symbolizm *may* have been the reason

medieval Satanists are presumed to have inverted the pentagram,

though my reading suggests they preferred to invert the cross.

I always find it odd that xians sometimes claim that a symbol which

from the earliest years of their religion has represented their God

is really the symbol of His enemy.

The points of the pentagram are viewed by many as follows:

top: Spirit, right top: Water, right bottom: Fire, left top: Air,

Left bottom: Earth.

Most wear them to remind them to always have Spirit over the elements in

life.   Also Life, health, protection (especially against hostile

spirits.)

Also a human being as a microcosm of the universe.

The points can represent the five senses, stages of life or states of

consciousness..

Hope this is of some help!  There is a lot of symbolism in a pentagram it

has had many names through the ages: Pentalpha, the Endless Knot, the

Pentacle of the Virgin, The Seal of the Microcosm, the Star of Knowledge,

the Pentacle of the Templars, and according to some, the Seal Of Solomon,

Medieval churchman however, called it witch’s funk or wizard’s star.  It

has been used by Sumerians, Kabbalists, Celts, Egyptians, Christians and

Gypsies.

The so-called “inverse” pentagram (which can also be derived by rotating

it eighteen degrees) may have gotten its nasty reputation from its

Islamic application as a simple decoration.  One can find an example of

this on the cover of S.H. Nasr’s _Islamic Ideals and Realities_, which

features a very ornate “inverse” pentagram with the Arabic script for

“Allah” in the center pentagon.  There was a time when Christians thought

Muhammad was the Antichrist, and anything with any Islamic connection was

considered “evil.”
